Before asking for help, read the other replies to make sure your problem hasn't already been covered.
Take photographs of the problem and give as much detail as you can before posting. Nice big crisp close up photographs are appreciated. Please link to them, do not embed them in the page as this will affect loading time for other users.

This thread discusses the Content article: Nintendo DS Lite - Replacement Shell Kit Review

I think the bottom screen, with that black border and white shell, is just plain cool.

It sets it apart from other DSes, and gives it a bit of an edge.

For the same reason, I have a black stylus, and a white DS.

Sure, it's not the same, I still think it looks cool though.

This is a different seller to the one who provided me the DS.

Saying that, the picture the ebay seller you are looking at provided does not include the bottom border, so if it includes it that's good.

It also has more choice of colours.

Your decision at the end of the day.

Which part? Threading it through the hinge?

You need to rotate the ribbon cable around until the end of the cable is lined up with the slit, then push it through. It it a very difficult part, but once you understand how it is done it's easy.

No I haven't got that far yet.
I've copied the bit below from your instructions so you know which bit i'm talking about.
"There is one ribbon cable to remove on the back of the board before the motherboard is free. This is for the top screen"

I've tried pulling the clip and sliding it but i still can't get it off.

The clip moves up, not out or sideways. Just put your nail underneath it, and push in, it will flip up and release the ribbon cable.

PLEASE HELP

We opened the DS to try to change case, but when opened decided against it, screwed it back together and the power switch has become loose and not fixed to the DS, resulting in us being unable to power the DS up, can anyone help?

PLEASE

The first thing you need to do is have patience, and not use massive bold text as this is a good way to get banned from any forum.

The power switch is never fixed to the case, you just put it back in place with the arrow facing the shoulder button.

As I said in my guide, once you've got it in place, put a bit of tape on the outside of the case over the button to keep it in place. That way you won't lose it inside the case when you reassemble.

Hello! newbie here asking if you can help me with this? when i heard about replacement shell i bought one 8 mins after since my ds lite is in Terrible condition! this will hopefully fix the hinges problem but my real concern is that my current Ds lite Top Screen turns white sometimes when moved in a way and also my left speaker does Not sound as loud as the other. Will replacing the shell fix this? if not what should i do? do you think there are loose cables? i won't be able to check till i recive the shell so i can't know myself till then. any thoughts??? thanks!

Post edited by: Sora911, at: 2008/04/22 05:53

If your left speaker isn't as loud, it might be the speaker itself that is the problem. The best thing to do is swap them around when you get your new case and test. If the right one becomes quieter, the speaker is damaged.

As for the top screen going white, that could be a damaged or loose ribbon cable, hopefully that will get fixed when you reassemble the case.

Let us know how that turns out.

ouch! i didn't really think that it would be damgeded. maybe acuattly since it only started doing that when the hinges broke on the orginal shell. so maybe it has to do with right hinge because thats where it broke mostly and thats from view your instructions shows is all that ribbon and cables. i think iam a little assured that this will fix this beacuse the speaker when held all the way back sounds normal. i can't wait till the shell comes!!! ^-^
thanks for the help! i will totally tune you in on how it turns out! but i gatta wait till it comes! *sign. ^-^
