More on the DS than on the PSP. The DS aims for more intuitive fun the PSP aims to be a mini playstation. Both have good selection of games available but I'd lean more to the DS.

Best bet is look at what games each has to offer and then go for the one that has the coolest looking selection.

Yeah, Animal Crossing, Zelda, NSMB, Mario 64, RE, Mario Kart, Dementium I've heard good things about, Final Fantasy III, Final Fantasy XII, to think that there are no 'proper' game on DS would be foolish. =P

As everyone has already said there are lots of 'proper' games available for DS and to add another one to the ones listed theres Sonic Rush.

Also I'd choose the DS.

The DS is great but what sucks is that every developed wants to take advantage of the touch screen when it doesnt even work out that well. Like CoD 4, Dementium the Ward(Great game by the way) and a few others that would do great without the touchscreen being used 99.9% of the time.

The PSP is great if you buy an extended battery but the problem is that in the end it would be very bulky. You can listen to music, watch (download) movies onto the device and even surf the web not to mention all the cool hacks if you get the first generation.

I had a PSP but my bother took it when he moved out. Overall I loved it. As for the DS same as the Wii I love it but nothing good on. Even if it has more games on it.

Look, it depends on your reasons for getting it.

Portable gaming? The DS, simply because more of its games are better for portable gameplay. The DS games are designed far better in terms of being played in short bursts than PSP games on the whole. PSP also has pathetically short battery life. DS has tonnes.

If you aren't getting it for portable gameplay, then I say, why on earth are you getting it?

See here is the thing. You don't seem to be interested in any of their exclusives, because you don't know anything about the games on the system's.

If you are wanting to know what has better exclusives, it all depends on your type of gameplay. The PSP and DS both have a great number of games. If you want gritty games, go with the PSP. If you don't mind/like more upbeat games, go with the DS. The DS has more exclusives that are good, but thats useless if you don't like that sort of atmosphere/graphics.

Also note though, the PSP's future in terms of games is a little pathetic, especially when compared with the DS. So it has a pretty solid library now, but there isn't much hope for the future- like the Wii currently, except a bit better, the lineup is on life support.

The thing is, I say, if you're going to buy a PSP, you're interested in console gaming, since the PSP doesn't work very well as a portable machine. Therefore, why get the PSP, when you can buy consoles instead? UNLESS you're after particular exclusives, I say flag it. If you don't care much for portable gaming, unless the DS also has exclusives you want, flag it. Small screens. Limited horsepower.

The DS though has games that are only good on its particular medium due to the touch screen, so keep that in mind.

Ima have to disagree with you on that seeing as how once the DS loses its battery life if you cannot save your game you have to start over. Whereas the PSP if it shuts off at least you can switch out the battery and continue where you left off.

Both systems have their ups and downs, the DS has more games but most of those games are boring to play just like the wii. Every so often there would be a good game or 2. Not to mention that it forces you to use the touch screen and you will probably look like an idiot trying to rub off the screen. Not to mention some games require you to blow on the mic when and if people see you theyll be thinking what the hell is wrong with this guy.

The PSP because of its short battery life it sucks but that doesnt mean that it is not fun to play. I own both handhelds and trust me i would prefer to take the PSP over the DS because it is easier to control and it doesnt always ask me to use the touch screen when I just want to use regular buttons. Not to mention that you can do way more with the PSP than the DS

Yes but with the DS, you rarely have that issue. Because you have so much gameplay, 15+ hours if you play it right, at least 10+ hours, the PSP you have what, 3? Maybe 4, MAX? And with the DS you have a warning to save, its when the green light turns red. With the PSP, your battery you're switching it would give you similar gameplay time to the DS, well actually, less. So this point is moot.

OK lets be serious now: The Wii's lineup is pretty poor, but the DS is another story. You're in an extremely lonely boat in claiming the PSP has more good games than the DS- extremely lonely. Pretty much everyone knows that the PSP's lineup is getting into limping phase as of now. It had a reasonably good run, but in paled in comparison to the DS because the DS not only had 1st party support but magnificent 3rd party support, especially from big players like sqaure, capcom etc.

You seem not very informed on the DS, few games require you to "blow into the mic". You say anything to the DS.

Yes but you're a complete minority.

The DS games make use of their touch screen well if they're GOOD games, too.

Here is the thing: it comes down to personal preference in games.

Pretty much everyone will agree the PSP is not good for portable play because it a) has horrible battery life b) games aren't designed well for it. Also, again, the lineup is on life support, you've got some good games coming, but they're very few in number, check out IGN's article on this.

The DS has strong developer support, and good battery life, and a very nice screen, however its screens are smaller than the PSP. The DS does 2D gaming, or 2D gaming with 3D characters. This is the sort of gaming you're getting. Very excellent gameplay, but its not console-like like it is on the PSP. However with the PSP, as its not the most portable option, you're going to be sitting and playing it for long periods of time, and why do that if you've got a console sitting right there in front of you. The DS games can only be done on the DS too, trauma center SUCKS on the Wii for instance in comparison.

Conclusion: don't get either if you aren't in to portable gameplay, but if so- I'd strongly suggest the DS, unless you prefer the PSP styled games quite a bit. Another plus for PSP: Strong homebrew community, thats what most people get it for.

I love them both as I have them both, but I would recommend getting a DS first, as it have about 30+ really good games(FFTA2 has used up over 20 hours of my life so far). Then get a psp after which has a few good games, but I just seem to use mine for browsing the net when I cant be bothered going to a computer.
