Also get the DS if you like point-and-click games. The phoenix wright saga is absolutely awesome! Including the more recent one and the Apollo Justice, thats 5 games, then you've got Professor Layton, and its sequel which I think has been announced. Thats 7 point-and click games of extremely high quality.

Its also good for very quirky games. Though you'll find NO realistic/gritty games on it.

OK. I suggest the following games;

All 4 of the phoenix wright/apollo series
Professor Layton and the Curious Village
Zelda: phantom Hourglass
Elite Beat Agents

Plenty of other good games, but I found these to be especially outstanding.

You do bring up some good points windmill but I never said that the PSP has better games than the DS. In fact both handhelds have shit games with only a handfull of good games out there. I choose the PSP because of its control layout and some DS games because of the control layout as well but I don't like that you have to use the touchscreen. As for gameplay you really have to be dedicated to unlock all the content in the game because I cannot see myself playing a DS game for 15 hours. Maybe final fantasy or another RPG but thats as far as I go. With games like CoD4 for the DS or anything similar its the same as the PSP which is only 4 to 5 hours of gameplay which is fine because I just want to move on to another game once im finish and maybe go back to it sometime in the future.

As for the Battery life all you have to do is get an extended battery or a second. I know this sucks but hey its the sad true of the gaming world. Just look at the 360. Running out of space on your 20GB HDD buy the 120GB one for $180 or just get the new 360 with the 60GB HDD. Buy a Wii-mote spend another $20 to get the Nun-Chuck attachment not to mention the new Wii-motion plus that is gonna be released in the future.

Luckily with the DS you dont have to buy anything extra. As for developer support, they go for the console that is cheaper to develop for. Look at the case with the N64 and the PSone. Developers went to the PSone because it was cheaper. Nintendo is cheaper to develop for now but at what cost. Cheaper graphics and only 512mb of memory. Its the same story with the DS.

I'm not saying that one console is greater than the other all i'm saying is that each console has its ups and downs and picking one over the other is like a double edge sword.

That is the truth, there some things i love about my psp (like wifi WPA instead of only WEP on DS), and things a love about my DS(Games series that I Love). In the end it becomes a personal decision, I went for the DS first. Others may choose to go for PSP, does that make them dumb? No, because they got what makes them happy. And if they realize they dislike it, you can always sell it and get the other one.

Apples and Oranges.

NB I have a japenese DS + buy all my games from Japan - some of these games might not be out in england/us yet - not sure.

Hotel Dusk
Another Code (if it's cheap - it's awesome...but over in like 5 hours...)
Jump Ultimate Stars
Trauma Centre
Wonderful World
Phoenix wright
Professor Layton and the Curious Village
Zelda: phantom Hourglass
Elite Beat Agents
Fire Emblem

That's 10 awesome games off the top of my head - I can think of loads more - I'd say buy a DS. But I don't have a PSP so I may be slightly biased.

And when you get it make sure you don't drop it.
I did and the hinge broke.
Although I'm not sure you'd have the same problem with a lite. (I have a phat one)

One Great game though even though I dont like the controls for it is Dementium the Ward. Also Jump Superstars is also great fighting game. Pokemon is the same old on a new console so I wouldnt recommend it.

wow no way!!! On my 12 hour plane flights to Japan I didn't
But the plane had an "entertainment system" thing (which was broken for 1/2 the plane for the first few hours - HAHA pwned! - but because of that they kept resetting all systems to try and fix them...including my perfectly fine one. ) so I just watched loads of movies, so I didn't really need play my DS at all.
