Yeah today is testing to see if all the beams are calibrated correctly...or something along those lines.
The actual usage starts October 17th.
And phew the world seems safe so far - but I heard if they do make a black hole that sticks, it would take 4 years to become strong enough to suck in the whole world...D:...so we might be doomed but just not know it yet.

Come on.. You seriously don't believe that do you? If the countless scientists and countries involved had just a small amount of suspicion this would end the world, they wouldn't have started the project in the first place.
These collisions happen all the time, and even if it were to make a black hole, physics dictates that it would be so microscopic that it would only suck in such a small quantity of matter before it collapsed. Black holes don't last forever; they shrink as they consume.
