That's no problem, I spent this weekend sorting out the shed, hopefully I can set up a table to do spraying in there, which should pick up the pace.. The rain has kicked in again.

Any progress? Just a reminder that I'm away until the 28th. Will be looking forwards to whatever I see.

Still applying to the bottom two pieces.. It's just not thick enough yet. I need to lacquer the top piece, but I'm weary because of the silver.. I don't want it to strip off. I'll just have to mask and reapply if it does though.

Thats cool mate, Just got to go get another can of black. This one is getting spitty now, which ruins the finish. I don't get back from work until 6 which is when halfords closes, so I'll buy it on Saturday.

I'm typing this with a very numb finger. I did more spraying on the DS, and I sanded it and rubbed it down. The edge is still very thin, so I'll need to build it up.

To save time rubbing it down, I use a wet rag and a bit of acetone, it takes the edge off the spray paint, but I'll need to thoroughly clean the pieces before spraying otherwise the acetone will make the lacquer chip off.

How is it going now? Got it to the right thickness?

No it keeps thinning back out. I might prime the corners for thickness, and lay the black on the top, and try from there, because it just comes straight off.

So close to finish, yet so far.. Expecially when I have to backtrack like this.

No worries, sorry this is taking so long.

I've come across another problem. The paint build up in the button holes makes it nearly impossible to press the buttons, so I'm going to have to shave out the paint in the holes and respray so it is a thinner layer lining the holes. I also have to do a few more layers on the edges, which I'm also going to reprime.

How's it progressing?

So yeah, thanks to my mum trying to save me money, I've just been conned by some dodgy site into buying a copy of Halo 3 that I know isn't going to show up. That set my dad off and now he's constantly asking why the DS is taking so long. Sorry about the hassle all of a sudden [Especially on Halo day], but as you can understand, I'm in a bit of a sticky situation.

Tell your dad he can finish then if he's going to bitch about how long it's taking. Remember, I'm not charging anything, so I'm doing this completely free, and then some. When the weather isn't sucky, I spray paint and sand. When it's sucky, I sand. There's only so much I can do between getting back from the gym everyday at 7:30, and going to sleep at 10.

And that includes reading my emails, eating food, and spending time with my girlfriend, and by then it's usually too dark to get any spray painting done in the first place. That leaves Saturday and Sunday to get it done, which I am doing, but in case you or your dad hadn't noticed, we haven't exactly had the best run of weather this summer, not to mention the crappy spray paint problems with it being thin around the edges.

So I'm banking on getting good weather on Saturday and Sunday so I can continue without set backs. If the weekend is no good, it gets delayed further.


Current progress:

One piece needs lacquering, and it's completely finished.
Top screen and bottom screen need more paint, and I'm going to reprime for good measure.
I need to cut the holes for the buttons so they don't stick, and respray one last time to make the holes black again.
I need to sand it all one last time to make sure no unpainted areas show up and to give it a smooth finish.

I need to lacquer it all and resand.

I need to leave it a day or two to cure.

Then I need to solder the LED in place so it lights up, reassemble it, test it, and ship it out to you.

I wake up to go to work at 6:30, leave for work at 7:30, get back from work at 6:30, where I go straight to the gym until 7:30. That's 12 solid hours of not being at home to spray paint, etc..

If your Dad wants to pay my salary, he's more than welcome to.. I'd probably have a lot more time to get the mod done, but until then I continue in my spare time, or you can have it back as it is.

Yeah, fair enough. It's not my dad's problem anyway. It's my DS, and I'm happy to wait.
