I was hired to make a DS case mod by a guy named Kamizoroe on another forum.

We sat down and designed a concept of what he wanted.

After some trial and error, we came up with a design that he wanted me to do.



I made a few prototypes whilst I waited for the DS to arrive, made measurements and built a light to go inside the scoop.




With the light finished, the DS arrived and I got started with fabricating the scoop.


I then mounted the scoop and started filling and sanding and contouring the scoop to suit the rest of the lid. I then cut an access to the inside of the scoop for the light to sit.



I inserted the light to make sure it fit and made adjustments to make sure everything was OK.


I then spray painted the DS silver, ready for the stripes that would be in the paint work. I masked it off using vinyl to give it a straight edge. and started spraying it black.




When the rain lightens up, I'll be doing more painting. I had hoped to have had this done weeks ago, but the weather has been terrible (as we know). Luckily I don't live in a flooded area.

One thing you should be aware of though... N64s die easily, so make sure you ground yourself on a radiator before touching the motherboard (I recommend either an antistatic wristband, or wrap a copper wire around your wrist and then wrap it around a pipe.

Yes, it's still on. I need to sand the DS one more time, and give it another coat, maybe 2 more coats.. Then one last light sand to smooth out the surface. Once that's done, I can remove the vinyl mask, and then spray it all with lacquer, then lightly sand that, and then buff the whole DS up to A SHINE.

Hmm... everyone likes a nice shine.

Today, it rained, then stopped and became sunny.. So I decided after lunch I'd spray it again, but it started raining again...

That's a shame. But that's the usual sort of thing that happens, so I'm not all that suprised either.

You know what they say about british weather.. The only thing predictable about it is it's unpredictability.

How's the weather been?

Sunny in the morning, but I had work, then rained during the day, and it's sunny now. I'm going to try put the last coat on now, then I'll see, if it needs another coat, I'll do it, if not, I'll take off the mask and lacquer it.

I'd have to say this is the worst weather we've had in a summer, ever... The ground was wet yesterday, and someones thrown away my spray painting cardboard. So I need to find a scrap giant box or something to spray paint on.

Yeah this weather sucks. Apparently out area is on flood alert still... rubbish
