The new virus is advertised as a "hack" that allows users to play non-Sony games on Sony's PlayStation Portable, or PSP. To infect a system, the pretend hack must be downloaded from the Internet and put on a Sony memory stick, which must then be inserted into the PSP. |

Maxconsole.net report "Neisha has managed to get Macintosh system 7.5.5 running on the Sony PSP. Boot time is approximately 4 hours using default CPU settings. Setup time was about 40 minutes, just because he had to find all the necessary files and recall how to install them. This cheap hack was done with the version of Bochs for PSP running vMac in FreeDOS." |

Presumably in direct response to last week's downgrader, Sony have issued firmware 2.01 - the only change: increased security. Naturally this fixes the tiff exploit hole, so you won't be able to downgrade should you upgrade, if you see what we mean. A fake patcher for the psp which is currently floating around the internet has been deemed dangerous, deleting key files your psp requires to run correctly, it will also void your warranty, leaving you with a very expensive piece of kit which wont work and cannot be refunded.
