Who knew that MSNBC even had a section on their website dedicated to games? I sure didn't, but apparently they do and the have created a new list of the top 5 most shocking events in video game history. The list is pretty routine, but the number one event takes place in Final Fantasy VII (but I won't go into detail for spoiler reasons). With the recent release of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, a prequel to the classsic PSOne game, I thought this would be a good list (and shocking) moment to post for those who are new the series or just never got that far in the original game. Click the link below for a link to the list on MSNBC, and stay connected to Console Central for a review of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII.

Another solid week in games! This week the headline release is Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII for the PlayStation Portable. The game is a prequel to the original FFVII game and is a part of 'The Compilation of Final Fantasy VII'. The game focuses on the character Zack, but you will see many familiar faces like Tifa, Cloud, Sephiroth, and Aerith. Also releasing this week is Dark Sector a cool take on a shooter with one of the coolest video game weapons to date. Ryu slashes his way onto the Nintendo DS courtesy of Team Ninja in the new action title Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword. Don't fret PC gamers there is plenty of new releases to go around. The first expansion for Command and Conquer 3 is released today branded ' C&C3 Kane's Wrath". Sega's Viking: Battle for Asguard is a promising action title for those PS3 and 360 owners. Naruto fans are in luck this week, the third installment of the Ultimate Ninja series is released. If you like fighters and can look past the anime theme, you may want to consider Naruto Ultimate Ninja 3 as your next rental. Thought the Harvest Moon series couldn't get any cuter? You were wrong! Check out the new DS release appropriately titled Harvest Moon DS Cute. Universe at War: Earth Assault hits the console in real time. Finally if you are longing for some Wii waggle action then check out Octomania, a new puzzler for Nintendo's beloved motion sensing system. That's it for this week, stay connected to Console Central for the latest video game releases.

GameStop is raking in the dough these days. Their financial numbers were released for the 2007 fiscal year, and by the looks of them they are doing pretty damn good for themselves. Their final sales were up 33% compared to the previous year, and they took in net earnings of $288 million which is up 82% from the previous year! GameStop CEO R. Richard Fontaine says, "2007 was a transformative year with hardware sales setting records and the installed base of users reaching an all-time high." He may credit sales to gaming hardware, but their trade-in program had to have helped just a bit. The majority of trade-in values highly undervalue a game's worth, and the cost of a used copy of a game is usually only 10% cheaper than than a new one. I personally think that 2007 was the best year video gaming has ever seen, and gaming sales followed suit. GameStop may have a hard time this year beating their sales and earnings if we don't see the same quality in titles, price cuts from consoles, or even new bundles for portables.

Good and solid week for games! Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is finally here and not a moment too soon, but dont' expect to be hitting the casino's again. This time around you will be taking the streets of the grittier side of Vegas. Feeling nostalgic? Well then check out the new Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection for the PS2. This is the perfect time to get familiar with the series before Guns of the Patriots comes out later this year. Also on the PS2, you can finally sing your favorite songs from a decade ago with Singstar 90's, not that you embaressed yourself enough with Singstar Pop, Amped, and 80's. And finally the moment you have all be waiting for, and cartoonish golfing experience on your PS3 with online capabilities. I know, your life is finally complete! Well if that wasn't enough new release goodness for you , there are still some other new games after the break.

This week is pretty jam packed with games, but no matter what was released Super Smash Bros Brawl outshines all of them. SSBB needs no intro, I have a feeling that this will be the best selling game on the Wii, and may even take out the juggurnaut known as Wii Play. Condemned 2: Bloodshot takes the horror genre to a new level, and has a new fighting mechanic that will have you beating up bums in no time. If you want something a little familiar you can try the House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return port for the Wii, cuase shooting zombie never gets old. On the portable front we've got Insecticide (a insect-noir game), Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Rings of Fate (a continuation from the original GameCube game), and Wild Arms XF (a tactical rpg in a long line of games on the PS1 and PS2). Read on to see the full list of new released games this week.

With the release of Super Smash Bros only days away for North Americans, I know everyone is getting restless waiting to play it. This week there is a some good distractions to keep you from going crazy. Army of Two is a shooter that focuses on two player interaction and tactical teamwork. Take another stab at Bully two special extended versions for the Wii and the Xbox 360. Tired of MLB 07: The Show, try MLB 08 The Show. Read on to see the rest of this week's new releases.

Ah, new release day, my favorite day of the week! This time around three games have really caught my eye. Patapon is a rhythm/real time tactics game made by the same developers of LocoRoco. By using the shape buttons in different combinations you can control your small Patapon, and the further you get in the game the more Patapon you can create. Another game that really looked interesting was Turning Point: Fall of Liberty. In this WWII first person shooter it was the Nazi's that won the war and now they have made their way to America. You aren't a soldier, but a construction worker determined to band together US citizens and take the country back from the Nazi's. The last is Frontlines: Fuel of war. This is another war-oriented FPS that is set in the near future where Earth's resources are depleting and many countries are scrambling to control them. Read on to see the rest of this week's new releases.

Looks like a great week for new releases! The fourth installment of the Ace Attorney jumps into action with the newcomer Apollo Justice. Join 'The Club' with this new point based shooter from Bizzare Creations...well only if you have an Xbox 360, Playstation 3, or a PC that meets the hardware requirements. And no matter what console you have you can get your hack and slash on with a new Dragon Quest Swords installment for the Wii and a new Dynasty Warriors installment for the 360, PS3, and PC. Sounds like a pretty good solid week of games to me, but if these games aren't enough for you just read on to the full story for all of this weeks new release games...you know you want to.
