Those wacky guys over at Acid Mods have given us yet another reason to keep our PSPs around with this snazzy (yet, pretty redundant) PSP mod that allows them to connect up a modified Playstation 2 Dual Shock controller to their PSP and use it to play.
The only real practical use I can see for this is if you have a PSP-on-TV.

Firmware V3.95 was released today and you will only care if you have a PS3. The new firmware adds two new features to the Remote Play function.
First off, when playing a PSone game via remote play you can now customize the button layout to your liking.
And two, you can now quit Remote Play without turning off the PS3 System. Now you can use your PSP to access the PlayStation Store, start a download, and then quit Remote Play without having to shut off the PS3 and stop the download. All in all a minor but solid firmware update.

Sony are the masters when it comes to odd adverts and have received a lot of bad press for some. Whilst this is a bit weird, it's still pretty safe compared to what we've seen.

But you guys are probably like my parent's with my birthday and forgot all about it. Three years may not seem a like a lot but in the world of handeheld's it's quite a bit. The N-Gage and the Game Gear wish they could of lasted that long. Three years is a long time for any handheld not made by Nintendo. With all the great games and unique features we may be seeing another three years out of the PSP, or maybe a PSP 2.

The PSP must be a little hungover from St. Patty's day because it's not bringing much in today's update. As always expanded support for PSN titles has been added. Also there are 20 new radio stations available for anyone who actually uses that feature. It looks like the PSP should of called out of work today and came back when it had something good to offer.

Crash Bandicoot is really good, if you are playing it on the PSP. The game looks great on the system's screen and the gameplay is very linear and in short bursts. This makes it a great buy from the Playstation Store for your PSP. Although the game is about 12 years old now, it has aged well, and for me it continues to be the best game in a continuing declining series. Read on for the full review.

Just a few quick news stories for the PSP.
God of War: Chains of Olympus comes out next week but a special edition bundle featuring everyone's favorite rage-o-holic Kratos. The PSP will be blood red with Kratos on the pack and will include GoW: Chains of Olympus, a Superbad UMD and a gift certificate for the PS Store for $199.99/
Also Bionic Commando: Rearmed will have remote play functionality so you can play anywhere in the world on your PSP, given you have an Internet connection.
Finally. Patapon is out or will be out by the time you read this. If you haven't already played the demo I suggest you do. The demo features the first few levels of the game and also has a secret weapon. You can transfer your saved data from the demo onto the retail version, giving you a headstart on the game. Patapon is priced at $20 so there is no reason not to get this game.

Patapon looks like it is going to be the next big hit on the PSP, and with it's release date days away I thought this would be a good time to make a post about it for those who haven't heard of the game yet. The game is developed by Interlink, which is the same developer who made the PSP hit Loco Roco. The game is sort of a mix between a rhythm game and a real time strategy game. There is a demo available for the game and any progress made in the demo can be transfered to the full retial release . Check out the release trailer after the jump.

Another great annoucment from GDC today, the Playsation Portable will be able to access the Playstation Store directly. According to Chris Eden of Sony Computer Entertainment the launch of this new feature is currently TBA and will "Access native Playstation Store on the PSP via wirless hotspot" and players will be able to "Purchace and download direct to PSP (no USB cable)." He also mentioned that more details will be coming regarding this feature so hopefully we will start seeing downloadable PS Store games for the PSP in the future.
I have owned a PSP in the past and this is one of the features that have really made me regret my decision. I think that this will really expand the value of the PSP and the overall life of the system. Also now that you can access the PS Store directly maybe will start to see more downloadable content for PSP games.

Remember The Elder Scrolls Travels: Oblivion? Well neither do most people. It was annouced back in 2006 as a PSP version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and then after that...nothing. What we thought was the last nail in the coffin of this game was when retailers started to revoke pre-orders of this game this past November, but don't give up hope yet for those of you who have been following this game. Amazon.com has put up a listing that shows the release date of this game for June 30th, 2007. If you wanna check out the listing for your self, then click here to go over to the Amazon.com page .

Skype is coming to the PSP, and it looks like this will be the closest that we will ever get to having a PSP phone on the market. It will be released in a firmware update for the system in late January, but only for the PSP-2000. The owners of the original PSP-1000 will not be able to make use of this feature. In February a PSP headset will be avilable in store to work with this feature, so keep an eye out at some of your local retailers. Read on to see a video on Skype for the PSP.
