Is 512mb of imbedded memory really limited?
The Wii has been out for quite some time now and is somehow managing to crush the competition world wide. What makes the Wii unique than other consoles for example the Xbox 360 core and not to mention the over priced PS3 is that it includes 512mb of flash memory for whatever data you want to use it for.
Right off the bat you can save your games without the need to go out and buy a memory card, something that many gamers had problems with when buying the core version of the Xbox 360. However the memory does run out very quickly if you download all sorts of VC games and have many saved games on the internal memory.
Many people are saying that this is a problem however it is one with an easy solution. Many websites are saying this as well that there's lack of memory for storage and I do agree with the but what I dont agree with them is that they are saying that Buying SD cards is really expensive. That in fact is a lie. SD cards have gone down in price so much that you can buy an SD memory card with pocket change.
Yes a 2GB SD Memory card will run you at $19.99 if its on sale. Most of these memory cards are on sale year round so not finding one at that price is no excuse not to get one. 1GB runs at $14.99 and 512mb runs at $9.99. In a couple of months the 2GB one will probably be up for grabs for $14.99.
Just buy one of these memory cards and you should be safe for the next few months. Just transfer the Saves and the VC games that you no longer play to the SD and have more room for more retro gaming goodness. And if you ever feel the need to play those old downloaded games ever again just transfer them back to the console's memory. It is as easy as that.
Don't overcomplicate things by getting angry at Nintendo because they were able to offer us 512mb of memory which of course its not alot and it's always better than nothing. With the 360 core you had to buy a memory card for it and with the PS3 well you have to buy a PS3.
There are also rumours going around that Nintendo might release a HDD for the Wii so keep an eye out for that. E3 is just around the corner so Nintendo might be able to confirm it. If not well then $20 bucks is just pocket change?and anyone can afford it. |
