Lots of Arcade Classics in one game:
Ill review them each individually: Bosconian: Ah, this is a good one. You fly around in space destroying enemy space stations. There are swarms of enemies and you can fire foreword and back at the same time. Allowing you to retreat and kill at the same time. It?s fast paced and takes skilful swerving. My personal favourite. But it?s too simplistic, I know it?s supposed to be retro, be we have to compare it with modern games for sale. 7/10 DigDug: The old-fashioned game that spawned Mr Driller for DS. Dig around and clear the screen while avoiding monsters. They can pass through areas of thick mud, but if you construct a maze with thin walls, they will foolishly think they can get to you quicker by taking the tunnels, not so. But the monsters are too good at chasing you. 5/10 Dragon spirit: Control a dragon, use fire breath, attack ground and air targets. This game swamps you with enemies all attacking you, and so little life, quite fun when you get to grips with it, but it gets dull fast. 6/10 Galaga + Galaxian: I?m going to take a guess that Galaga is the sequel to Galaxian, because it?s the same basic game only in Galaxian the enemies swoop in to attack now and then. But this is just space invaders without the shields to protect. Overall a poor effort 5/10 Rally - X: Drive your car around a mini landscape collecting flags to advance, avoid other cars. No real skill required. 4/10 Pole position I+II Again a game poorly made to begin with, then gets a sequel with no real changes. You start with a single lap race to determine your position for the main race. Then you have a four lap race. Possibly the earliest racing game, looks like the genre had a rocky start. 4/10 Xevious: I had no idea that all the games from a long time ago where so repetitive. I mean this is exactly the same as Dragon spirit, only different graphics and no ground enemies. 4/10 Mappy: Collect items and avoid enemies while doing so. This game is so bad, its no wonder games where un-cool back when it came out, enemies are too hard to kill and chase you down too well. 2/10 out of pity. Sky Kid: Ah, a good one. A side scrolling shooter that keeps you on your toes and best of all you can recover from a near death experience. Great fun to play. But gets boring soon. 7/10 Pac-Man & Mrs Pac-man Ah yes, what you've all being waiting for. It?s challenging, true, but it?s also fairly addictive. Both games are basically the same but different levels. Run around the mazes and avoid the ghosts. I think those ghosts are too smart though, the way they pin you and trap you. No thanks 7/10 Overall: Why do old companies keep bringing these old games out? Terrible, not worth buying. 4/10 |
