NFL Street Vol. 3 makes its way onto the PSP with little improvement to none added. Vol. 3 was released under the radar, and the reason why I say that is because I have not seen any commercials, ads, or even word of mouth from football fans. I just walked in to my local to check out what new games they had and while looking at the PSP section there it was. I don?t know exactly when the game came out or how long it has been out all I know is that it?s probably sitting at your local game store.
?????????? NFL street Vol. 3 has little to no improvements to the previous NFL street game on the PSP. There is no story line, all you really need to do is take over other people?s or players territories and gain respect from other people. Game Play: ??????????? Vol. 3 is really not aimed at people who don?t like football. I am one of those people yet somehow I have a blast with the Blitz series from Midway. The game is easy to understand for new people who want to try this game out however they will stay at the basic level of just passing and scoring touchdowns. However about half of the game is about scoring more style points than touchdowns, which means that you can have many touchdowns and still loose the game. For Veterans of the series the game play stays true to its roots in scoring style points to mocking your opponents with the ball. ??????????? Picking your team is one of the most boring experiences I have ever had. Not only does it take long plus if you don?t pick them right it could cost you the game. So I just choose random pick which makes things go a lot faster. Or so you think so. Loading times are a bitch and could take up to 30+seconds. It?s not as bad as WWE Smackdown VS RAW which takes up to 8 minutes. But its still too long for loading times. ??????????? Every time you loose a game you will loose respect points. You need a certain amount of respect points in order to progress into the game and move on to other cities. Not being much of a fan of the game I had a hard time progressing through the game because I would get bored after only a couple of minutes, like stated before this game was not made to appeal to people who don?t like sports. Graphics: ??????????? The game uses the same engine as the previous NFL street Unleashed; there are really no improvements to this game. The environment is trying to fit with gangs meaning that instead of Drive By?s they play a nice game of football. Instead of gang battles they bad mouth each other. There?s tagging all over the place in the buildings and the theme is dark. Too dark to see what you?re players are even doing you need to have the PSP?s backlight screen on full blast to see what the hell is going on. ??????????? The players are ugly as hell, their noses are crooked, and they have egg shaped heads, heck they look like inmates. They are shown as being tough and able to take on anyone who in my opinion they exaggerated a little too much. Sound: ??????????? EA trax features some terrible artist with terrible music. OK so some artists are not terrible but the music in this game stinks. Not just in this game, other EA titles have had some terrible music on them. With EA trying to feature a gang type of style in Vol. 3 they feature more rap than other type of music, and I for one am one of those people who hate Rap. ??????????? Voice acting in this game is OK, really all they do is talk during FMV sequences and after that you don?t hear from them until you complete missions and gain respect points. The sound effects are great you can hear the agonizing pain of the other team members, that swoosh wind breaker, the ball being cached or dropped. The body hitting the ground when you send them up in the air and they fall back down. Of course for you to be able to hear all of this you must be in a very, very quiet place. Controls: ??????????? The controls are easy to master, the basics are: + pad to move and the rest to pass the ball to anyone. For the offense it is easier to understand than the defense. Up until this day, whenever I go back to it every time I?m defense I just press any button because I do not know what each button is suppose to do. Normally that works but if I miss then I loose because the other team scores a touchdown before I realize that my team is out of breath and can no longer use turbo. Life Span:
??????????? If you love football and have been a fan of the NFL Street series this game is perfect for you. However EA has not managed to get the attention of everyone else. If you?re not into this game or it is too hard to understand this game will only last you for a couple of hours before you realize that you cannot return it and you have to give it away or trade it in for a fraction of what you paid for. But if you?re into this game all it will last you are a couple of days because as soon as you beat the competition in other different cities and buy everything you need in the store there will be nothing else for you to do. Sure Multiplayer is there but finding another player is a challenge that is not worth going through. Closing Statement: ??????????? EA did not make this game for many of us. They did not wanted to catch the attention of Non-playing football fans. Yet that is something that EA has not tried to do. I?m not a football fan, heck the only game I own is NFL 2K5 and I only played that game for a couple of minutes before I got bored of it and put it away for life. Even though I don?t like football I still like the Blitz series. That is the only football game I am willing to play over and over again. Midway did something to catch my attention maybe EA should look into it with Vol.3 or other future NFL street games. Game Play: collecting respect points through out the city can be a boring journey. 3/10 Graphics: No difference between unleashed and vol. 3. 6/10 Sound: Worse EA Traxs ever. Yet sound effects are good. 4/10 Controls: Easy offence, still don?t know what the hell I?m doing in defense. 5/10 Life Span: Nothing good to unlock and finding a challenger for multiplayer is a challenge itself. 4/10 Total Score: 44% = F |
