Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers (FSPTH) is a sequel to the original game released in 2004.
Graphics - 8/10 Sound - 8/10 Game play - 5/10 Overall - 8/10 Ten Hammers takes the action of the first game and then deepens the controls, it also offers additional moves, abilities and modes. You now have the ability to command another team without having to switch back and forth like the old game. You also split your teams into pairs. You now have the ability to go into buildings and can also go upstairs, you can call in air strikes, control tanks, and play along with three military groups as their stories unfold. The story of Ten Hammers follows UN Coalition forces Alpha and Bravo teams, with soldiers returning from the first game. The game consists of 12 massive levels set across four chapters. Gamers start their trek in a mountainous area called Khardiman. The story is told at the start of each level but from the view of a different ,military side. In effect it plays like a Tarantino movie where you know the beginning first but you will not know how it came about. The game itself plays well but the controls start to get a bit complicated when there is lots of action on the screen at once. If you come almost face to face with an enemy the controls are not quick enough to react at close range. This shows another flaw in the control scheme. The missions also become repetitive and sometimes it seems like you are doing the same thing again. Another downside of the game is you regularly see seam lines in the gaming giving a less than polished look to the games finish. The game does have lots of plus points, the computer AI is great with enemies doing different things and following you in an almost free roaming way. Features - - Innovative genre-blending game play experience – combining squad-based combat and real-time tactical action – delivering the most authentic and realistic infantry combat experience ever. - Intense Squad Based Combat – Battle enemies with an explosive arsenal of weapons and equipment - all based on real-world military weaponry including machine guns, grenade launchers and sniper rifles – or call in air-strikes from helicopter guns ships and mortar stations. - Authentic Military Gaming Experience - Utilize real-world combat tactics to command your infantry squads – ranging from US Light Infantry Squads and US Ranger Forces to Multi-National Coalition Forces - taking on a variety of combat missions through hostile war zones. - New features include the ability to control mechanized units (ie Bradley Tanks, Armored Humvees) and the ability to enter interior environments and position sniper teams. - Command Responsibility – The lives of your squad members lie in your every movement and decision. With the in-game replay video system, you can review your squad's movements and actions, learning from your mistakes. - Xbox Live - Go Online for a variety of multiplayer modes including Co-Op and Adversarial. Go head-to-head with friends or team up for objective based missions. Overall the game plays well once you get your head around the control system. If you have played the first game you will enjoy this game, for die-hard fans of war simulator games this may not be to everyone’s liking. The AI on the enemy soldiers makes for some good shoots outs and running battles with the enemy soldiers flanking you as you run back for cover. As a game in itself without the playing the original I would say this game is worth investing in. |
