Lost Planet is Capcom's all new Sci-fi shooter released for the 360 on the 12th January. Its the first of its type on the 360 but needs to be good as the release of Halo 3 is just around the corner and is already hyped up to be the biggest game in the 360's short History.

First Impressions: From the first in game videos you could tell the graphics were going to be something special. Capcom had mentioned that Lost Planet would produce some of the best graphics on the 360 and they weren?t kidding. The in game graphics are amazing, even during heavy action and lots of on screen movement the graphics stay crisp and clear. I have my 360 hooked up to my HD LCD and the results were impressive.

Storyline:
The game takes place on a frozen planet once inhabited by humans but now overrun with an alien race called the Akrid. The story follows a young soldier called Wayne who is trying to rid the planet of these creatures after his father was killed by a large Akrid called Green Eye. The game also introduces various other Humans and a band of pirates who like to stir things up and make things harder for you. The main part of the game is based around Thermal Energy. This energy keeps you alive and your main objective is to stay alive. Killing the Akrid gives out this thermal energy and you have to keep your bar topped up. If its drops to Zero you die. It never general gets to zero but it keeps you on your toes and stops you messing around exploring places you don?t need to go.

Game Play:
The game plays extremely well and after just a few minuets I had picked up the controls. You can use the shoulder buttons to quickly turn left and right ( L1 + R! ) if you are attacked from the side. You gun controls are via the other shoulder button ( R2 ) and ( L1 ) throws grenades. Its sounds complicated but are easy after a little while. The game is vary varied and each level can be completed different ways. You can go for the all out attack or sit back and sniper away till you have cleared a clear path. Either way the action is always varied or this helps to keep the levels fresh. ????????? Another addition to the game is the suits you can use. These robotic suits vary in size and weaponry from the small type (think Ripley in alien 2) to full on massive spider style weaponry. Each suit has two interchangeable weapons which you can change at your own pace. Take off a machine gun and add a rocket launcher ect. Or just take the weapon off and carry it on foot. The choice is yours.

Graphics + Sound:
As mentioned before the graphics on this game are some of the best I have seen on the 360. ?The in game videos and game play merge together and both are very impressive. The sound in the game works very well and adds to the mood and feeling of isolation during some parts of the game.

Conclusion:
Overall I think this game is amazing. Graphically brilliant with game play and a control system which is spot on. The game contains 12 massive levels which can be completed in different ways making for a completely different game each time. Ratings: Storyline 9/10 Game Play 9/10 Graphics 10/10 Sound 9/10
