If you loved Lord of the Rings then you will love Ninety Nine Nights.
N3 is a game developed by Q3 Entertainment and Phantagram. The game is a simple hack and slash, just like any other game. It has been a while since I played a hack and slash game.
There are a total of 7 characters, each with its own individual story line which are all connected in someway. Each character has a different story ending which will confuse you very much. These seemed incomplete and every time I completed the game with a new character I thought I accidently pressed a button because it would just cut off unexpectedly and the credits would start to roll.
The entire story revolves around humans and goblins (Lord of the Rings anyone?). You may have heard the term every action has a re-action and that’s what this game is all about as the story unravels.
During battle you don’t think much about the story because when it comes to fighting you will have to worry more about surviving the hundreds of goblins coming after you.

The game features great battle music and sound effects however voice over is terrible as is the script. This really hurt’s the game because everything sounds cheesy.
Controls are easy to get used to. All you really need to press is just X and Y to attack and perform combos. Before the level starts they explain how to execute some combos.
You can also block, dash, jump and use specials. Each character has their own different specials. You need to collect red orbs in order to fill up your special meter. Once you are in Special Mode you will need to kill a certain amount of enemies and collect blue orbs to execute your most powerful special which can knock out hundreds of enemies with just one blow.

The graphics really amazed me in this one. The rendered movies look awesome running the game at 720P. The in-game graphics look great as well as the character animations that range from the environment to humans to goblins.

The game does get repetitive from time to time as your only enemies are goblins and their allies. Eventually it is the same event over and over again only in different stages.
Frustratingly, your Allies AI is poor. They will get killed so easily that during the first half of the game you’ll be saying "where are my allies?" Even if there is only 1 goblin left standing they won’t kill him, rather they will just raise their swords and move on.
Closing Comments:
N3 is fun for all those who love hack and slash games and it has been a long while since I've played once myself so I have forgotten how fun they were! The reason why I love games like this is because you don’t have to waste time thinking and strategizing, you just go out there and kill or be killed.
