Examine Exotic animals and make them feel better in this Sim game.
There are many Simulations of anything out there that it is very hard to see which one of them is good and which one is bad. The Sims by EA always takes the #1 Spot in both consoles, PC?s and now Handhelds for the DS and PSP. However, just because The Sims is #1 does not mean that there aren?t decent Simulators out there.
Pet Vet 3D is one of those Sims available on PC that is meant to simulate a real Vet and earn money for your animal hospital and make it better by adding more things. However Just like the other Sims it is a game that has a few noticeable bugs that can really irritate the player.
Pet Vet 3D wild animal Hospital starts off in the middle of Africa you are a female doctor, yes a female doctor. The game hasn?t even started and it?s not even giving you an option to choose or create a type of doctor. At the beginning your animal hospital does not have many things, it?s just a huge acre of lands and a couple of Habitats for injured animals.
The first things that it noticeable is the way the doctor walks. If she is pointed to a certain spot not only does she take her sweet time but also she walks back and forward while trying to move forward. This can sometimes get in the way when you have customers. If you don?t get there fast enough they will get angry and leave and which of course if the injured animals aren?t treated then the hospital will not get money and if the hospital does not get any money then there wont be any new renovations or any hired help which of course will make it even difficult to treat the animals already admitted to the hospital.
Treating is simple and easy. All the doctor has to do is examine the animal which of course is the player, there are 4 options to choose from and depending on the diagnosis there is a chart that shows what the animal is more likely to have. Choosing correctly can help cure the animal however if it is very severe the doctor will have to admit the animal in and stay and look after. Different animals will go to different habitats.
To earn money the doctor has to examine the animal and the longer the animal stays or the severity of the condition the more money the doctor will earn for the hospital. You can use that money to hire help and that help will come in handy when the doctor is out. This can happen by not taking care of her and her health is lowered. Yes aside from the animals the player also needs to take care of the doctor by feeding her and giving her plenty of rest.
All the animals will not be available in the beginning at most the doctor will be taking care of a weasel.? However as time goes on the list of animals will grow to lions, elephants, zebras, etc.
Graphically the game is challenged, and I don?t mean by being a challenging game I mean that the text are hard to read because they are blurry, the character collision is not programmed very well one example is when the doctor is examining the animal it looks like if she?s examining the air to see if it has a cold or something. The animals and environment are visually correct but it is very graphically challenged even if you have the most expensive and latest graphics card.
The animal sound effects are nicely done and so are the human characters in the game however the sound does feel distorted and grungy. The music is mainly silenced and you can barely hear anything in the background if no attention is being paid to the music.??
All that is needed to control everything is the mouse however the option to use the keyboard is there as well. Some parts of the game do require the full use of the keyboard, and ?m not saying that the game does not use the keyboard at all. All I?m saying is that you can control the entire game with the just the mouse if the player wanted to.
Earning money, Taking care of animals and renovating the hospital can be a fun experience but all that will not matter since there are a couple of noticeable bugs that will get in the way of game play. This will frustrate the player into not completing or even touching the game after the first couple of minutes of playing the game.
Closing Comments:
Pet Vet 3D is just one of the many Sims out there however it is just a few of the Sims out there that deals with animals. The game needed a lot of work and it still needs a lot of work, it just looks like the developer didn?t pay that much attention to the way the character moves and check for any errors before shipping the game. This game is perfect for children who love animals because it does feature a variety of animals however it will be very hard for them to know what to do. I guess the parent will have to be there while their children play to help them figure out what to do next.
Game Play: The game is easy to understand however it handles horrible which makes it too hard for children and too dull for adults. It fails to satisfy the targeted audience. 3/10
Graphics: Blurry letters is the main problem of the game but the visuals are accurate in the environment, animal habitats and animals. 6/10
Sound: Distorted but accurate sound effects. The Dog does not go Moo in this game. 7/10
Controls: Can be controlled with just the mouse but the option to use the keyboard is there. 7/10
Life Span: Earning money and helping animals can be such a long and entertaining task if you?re character stops walking back and forward while trying to moving forward. 6/10 |
