The excellent 360 game is coming to the Nintendo DS. First info inside!
In what is a strangely shocking move by Rare, it was announced by the veteran games developer at Comic-Con 2007 that Viva Pinata DS is coming to Nintendo's dual screened handheld. This news is also interesting since Rare is currently owned by Microsoft. DS owners had been given a remake of Diddy Kong Racing 64, but a DS game - previously on the 360 - published my Microsoft Game Studios - coming to a Nintendo handheld - wha!? Maybe this is due to the fact that the original Viva was aimed at a target demographic that don't normally own 360s and the success of the recent cartoon series, but it's a hint that nothing's impossible in the games industry.
Info on the game in question has also trickled through to the gaming audience. The original game's concept will be ported over to the DS version (and NOT the recent Viva Pinata! Party Animals minigame collection for the 360) - mainly to create and raise living Pinatas in a mix of Pokemon with a dash of Tamagotchi - although don't be surprised if some stylus specific mini-games are added to the package. The title will feature a top-down view and focus on using the DS's touch to advantage.
This is great news for those wanting to get in on the Viva Pinata craze but couldn't afford to get a 360 to play it (the original 360 version didn't do well here).
Screenshots and more news will be posted as soon as it comes.
