Scene it Review Print
Written by Ben Mcfadden

Scene it started life as one of the first DVD based board games. Players would answer various questions on clips from films and move pieces around the board trying to get to the finish. So just how well has this game converted to the 360. Find out inside.

The first thing you notice about the game is the fact it comes packaged with 4 “ Big Button “ controllers which run off an infa-red port which plugs into the USB socket on the front of your 360.  So for the price of an Xbox 360 game you also get yourself four mini controllers to play with.

The controllers are designed very well with a Big Buzzer button at the top and then the four buttons below A, B , X and Y. These controllers make the game more fun when playing with four people and having to Buzz in the answer the questions gives it and element of speed and is sometimes a challenge to get in there first.

The game itself is fun to play in groups of people but can sometimes be limiting if you are playing alone. It contains roughly fifteen different types of questions asked across three main rounds and then one final cut section at the end. Each round can contain either 15 or 30 questions depending on if you choose short play or long play.

The various game modes include –

Next Line – You get shown part of a famous line from a film and you have to pick one word to fill in the blank.

Film Clip – You watch a clip form a film and have to answer questions on it. Sometimes they are observational questions and sometime they can be annoying like year of release or how many Oscars did the film win.

Prop Lab – You see various Props from films and have to guess what movie they appeared in.

What’s missing – You are shown an image from a movie and have to say what has been removed from the image.

Pop Culture – You get asked questions on films and actors

The game has roughly 1800 questions so it takes a while before you start getting repeats but sometimes questions will randomly pop up the game after you have just seen them which can sometime be annoying.  The game is obviously going to feature downloadable content in the near future because it pops up on the main menu and takes you straight to the Marketplace, but so far this isn’t the case.

Presentation - The game is put together nicely with some cut-scenes in between each round. But after playing the game for a while it can get annoying seeing the same thing over and over again. 6/10

Graphics - The animations of the menus are impressive and so are the films clips to watch. It’s a shame they didn’t add High Definition clips but I guess storage was an issue. 7/10

Sound- The menu music and voice can become annoying but the sound for the clips and other rounds is impressive. 7/10

Gameplay- A better more sold game than other quiz titles such as “ Buzz “. Flowing game with plenty of options including party mode for when people just want to have fun. 8/10

Longevity - The game claims to have 1800 questions so it should last for a long time and with downloadable questions it will extend the life of the game some what. 8/10

Overall – 72%
