A cult game series with legions of fans is to see a re-working and release on the Nintendo DS.
Classic game Gauntlet will soon see itself on a Nintendo DS near you!
"Eidos is proud to revitalize the iconic Gauntlet franchise from Midway by offering a totally revamped iteration of the classic multiplayer action RPG to the Nintendo DS"
That's a quick quote from Robert Lindsey, the Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing up at Eidos... Such a big title he has... Think he's compensating?
The news that Gauntlet, a game that would frequently find multiple players cooperating on one screen, rather like Zelda: Four Swords or Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, is going for a DS treatment is great news, as Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles works rather well with the DS, and one would assume that it would work rather similarly with Gauntlet too.
And that's not all folks!
It's one of the only games (bar Metroid Prime Hunters) that will use the voice chat feature of the DS... And yes, this means it'll be online! You can play Gauntlet online with friends whilst sitting in McDonalds! But don't do that too often, that Maccie's food will get you fat... We've all watched Super Size Me...
Gauntlet's main feature is the cooperative story, and when I played the Gamecube's Gauntlet: Dark Legacy I thought that the only way to enjoy it was with friends. It just doesn't work by yourself.
But yes! This is exciting news for all of us Real-time RPG fans.
And it should be on our shelves before the Autumn, how great is that?
