Looks like Activision is catching up wiht the juggernaut known as Electronic Arts.
The European Commission has given Vivendi and Activision to merge in a $9.85 billion deal. This deal will give the Vivendi a 52% share in what is now Activision Blizzard. With Activision bringing in franchises like Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk and Blizzarad bringing in some like World of Warcraft and Starcraft.
The European Commission said this about the merger: "all categories of game software, the combined firm would continue to
face several strong, effective competitors, such as Electronic Arts,
and the game console manufacturers, such as Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft"
So overall this can only be good for the gaming industry.
