Due to poor sales Gamestop has decided to discontinue the Zune at their retail stores.
The Zune is known as an iPod "Killer" but up to date it has failed to beat the iPod in terms of sales. Because of this Gamestop has decided to put a stop to selling Zune's in all their retail stores.
The Zune did really great at one point, even ranking #1 at Amazon's top MP3 Players list, however that fame didn't last for very long. Microsoft said that it will stand behind its wireless media player no matter what and has even said that it aims to release a new Zune every year. Wonder how that is going to work out?
Zune has even introduce a $14.99 a month package which lets you download unlimited music as well as made a distribution deal with NBC to have shows from different stations as downloads for their device.
That all seems great but what Microsoft is trying to do with Zune is put a somewhat of a digital cop that will not allow anyone to transfer pirated data onto their Zunes. This of course will turn many people off and will probably go look else where for their digital media needs. It's not that they pirate movies but if they own the movie and decide to rip it onto their PC's and transfer them to their Device Zune will probably reject it.
