In the next traditional Sonic game, Sonic Unleashed, Sonic undergoes his wierdest transformation yet...a werewolf?
All right, you may have heard this already, thats fine. I'm not trying to break new info here really, this is more like a discussion topic. I'm putting this article in the PS3 news section...but its really applicable for every major console (including PS2, and not the handhelds).
A new teaser trailer was released some time ago showing a First Person perspective of Sonic (no the game isn't FP) flipping a ring in his hand while whistling the Angel Island theme (from Sonic the Hedgehog 3). He flicks it high in the air, and whilst it's still in its arc, the sky turns dark, Sonic transforms, and a beastly hand (Sonic's) slams the ring into the ground. The trailer ends, saying "A New Adventure Awakens."
My thoughts on this are simple, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Hedgehog. In all fairness, though, Sonic's transformation is more traditionally a werewolf by the looks of it, hes still bipedal and just looks like a giant beastly hedgehog...but how does this affect the gameplay? No real news on that yet...it's only been announced that gameplay gets harder at night when he transforms.
Really, though, Sega...did we need to go werewolf with the Sonic franchise? I know that I shouldn't judge before I actually play (especially since the rest of the game looks to be shaping up rather nicely) but it not only seems out of place (Sonic's already a bipedal mutant animal!) it also seems like it could ruin the game. In my opinion, Sonic's pretty cool just the way he is. But like I said, I'm gonna hold my tongue officially until the game hits and I see how it plays out...I just kinda think the word, "Doomed," whenever I imagine Sonic the Werehog.
The rest of the game is shaping up amazingly, as I said before. Imagine Sonic Rush for the DS, only with b-e-a-utiful graphics. And much faster. From what I've gathered, Sonic's tops speed is gonna be around 300 MPH. And yeah, it's forced 2D gameplay in a 3D environment. A few 3D segments (done in the same style as the recent Sonic and the Secret Rings) will be scattered throughout the level, and all in all (Werewolf Sonic pending) this could easily be the Sonic game fans have been waiting for since his 3D outings became so painful to play.
I'm looking forward to it, because the first trailer has a very catchy song that fits the action in the trailer so well that any time I watch it I get goosebumps...(I'm a bit of a fan of old school Sonic, so this is very exciting looking stuff).
But enough of my ramblings, what do you guys think about the Werehog?
