Owning a PS3 finally starts to pay off.
id's software has stated that the new game called Rage will look much better on PS3 and PC then it will on Xbox 360 due to its lack of space. Microsoft charges a fee everytime a developer uses more than one disc and it seems that id is trying to avoid that. Could it be that they are pressuring microsoft to get rid of such stupid policy or could it be that they are just too cheap to pay for an extra DVD
Either way the 360 version of Rage will only have 2 DVD's which if compressed it will look inferior to that of the PS3's uncompressed Blu-Ray format and PC's 3 DVD version of the game.
Will this be a sign of things to come in the near future. Bigger games require more space and with the Blu-Ray capable of holding 50GB of data and DVD's up to 8GB it seems that Sony has the upper hand when it comes to compressing or removing content. At this point developers will only port games from one system to the other without necessarily adding any extra content but hopefully that will soon change when Games released on PS3 have extra content because of the amount of free space developers have. That can be seen with BioShock which is being released on the PS3 this fall with a few added features and the same can be said about Rage.
Rage is scheduled for release on Xbox 360, PS3, Mac, and PC in 2009
