New PSP model to act as a phone. Print

Soon you will also be able to make your toast on your PSP.

We know the PSP can serve as a multi-media device. Heck is the reason why we purchased one. (That and of course all the mods that are available). With a 4 or even an 8GB memory card if you dont mind spending the money, and an extended battery which Sony has decided to discontinue, it can be the only device you will ever need.

However Sony is pushing the issue of the only device you will ever need. By adding Phone support they expect people to use their PSP's as a communication device. The PSP alaready supports Skype and with the new model which comes with a built in microphone Sony expects the PSP to replace your iPod, Cell Phone and Handheld device into one working unit.

"We believe that this will establish the PSP as a viable communication device," said David Reeves, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

The new PSP will cost $300 way too much to what the basic PSP now costs. No other details were given on whether or not it was going to be some type of GSM phone or if it will provide phone calls over wi-fi.

Stay Tuned for more details as they arrive.
