With the new 45nm chips Sony will likely follow suit of a smaller version of the PS3.

As we head into the future, there will be new technology that will amaze us ever so. Soon we will have heads in jars, all the books in the world will fit into one small chip, the government will be able to track us and keep us on a leash via a chip installed inside of us that will decide what we do and if we ever think bad thoughts we will be thrown in jail...... Sorry too much Futurama.

The Cell Processors which were shrunk in the beginning of 08 will go into mass production in 09 meaning that the new PS3 machines will have the same power only in a smaller package.

The chip costs less money to make which means more money in Sony's pocket and pretty soon another price cut for the already powerful PS3. With less power consumption, and 40% smaller, Could the PS3Slim be on the way? Of course it will.
