Speed up your PS3 load times Print

At a price of course.

We live in a society where we want to go fast even though we don't know where we are going. How many of us have gotten on our cars in the morning and speed up just to get to work 30 mins earlier. I know many of you have.

Gamers of course are the same way with games. We want to already start playing the game from when we first pop in the Disc. We want to skip all the logos and warnings just to shoot someone online in CoD4 but we cant.

With PS3 games downloading a big chunk of of data onto our hard drive just to "Speed up the games loading time" which does show some improvement. But, the guys over at speedtech have come up with a way to speed up your games even faster with the new SSD Drives which fit onto the PS3.

According to the data they have gathered Games show an improvement between 25 - 40%  on games such as GT5, Devil May Cry , Mercinaries 2 and GTA4.

"Swapping out that PS3 hard drive for one of Intel's X-25 solid-state drives won't do much to improve install times from game discs, but it will improve install times from downloaded games and most game startup and load times by anywhere from 25–40%, depending on the situation. "

It is a big improvement if you have money to burn.

"This 80GB drive costs in the $660–700 range, which is considerably more than the PS3 itself. Considering that the base PS3 model these days is the $400 unit that already has an 80GB hard drive, you're not even trading up to higher capacity unless you happened to buy an older 60GB unit or the bargain 40GB unit. And it's a downgrade if you got the 160GB Drake's Fortune bundle pack."

So clearly if you are a spoiled brat or just have some extra income you might want to purchase this SSD drive. As for the rest of us we will have to settle for the standard Drive or wait until there is a huge price drop on these SSD Drives. Im talking about like an 80% price drop
