I dont see why they say Californians because I'm not filing the suit even though I experienced the RRoD myself.
The RRoD has been around since the first people in line to buy the first batch of 360's which is back in 2005. Many people have been experiencing these and of course I was one of them. Now in an anger and rage many people in California have filed a lawsuit claiming that Microsoft knew about the problem but still released the console anyway.
These people are using sources such as: dailygamesnews.com, VentureBeat, Digital Media and Yahoo! which have articles stating that Microsoft knew that 50% of 360 consoles were defective.
The lawsuit seeks a court order that would have Microsoft pay off the owners of the 360 who have come face to face with the Ring of Death with all profits that it made from the sale of the console.
Yes it is frustrating to come face to face with the Red Ring of Death but Microsoft has done a great job at getting those 360's replaced with their 3 year extended warranty no questions asked for the specific problem. Unlike Sony which requires a claim, the unit and a store receipt which many of us tend to throw away Microsoft didn't ask for anything. You just ship back your old 360 and they ship you a refub one is that simple. With the economy getting worse and worse everyday people are just trying to make up excuses to get money and this here is no exception.
